F-22 crashes at Tyndall AFB

An Air Force F-22 Raptor crashed near Florida's Highway 98 on Thursday at 15:30hrs local time. The pilot was able to eject safely and there were no injuries on the ground, the military said.
The crash was on Tyndall land and no one on the ground was hurt, said Air Force Sgt. Rachelle Elsea, a spokeswoman for the base where F-22 pilots train.
The Air Force said the plane went down less than a kilometer from the drone runway at Tyndall in a wooded area near the highway.
Highway 98 has been closed from Dupont Bridge to the "Welcome to Mexico Beach" sign as a safety precaution.
The pilot ejected from the aircraft safely and recieved medical treatment under supervision of the 325th Medical Group.
It is the first F-22 crash since a fatal incident in November 2010 which killed Capt Jeff Haney and led to a series of investigations and groundings related to fighters oxygen system.
Initial reports for this accident suggest the problem is not related to life support system. The airforce have opened a board of enquiry to investigate this incident.
