May 27, 2010 (by Asif Shamim) - Air Force officials announced Thursday that Joint Base Langley-Eustis will host two F-16 units which will deploy to Langley Air Force Base over the next two months.
USAF F-16C block 30 #87-0226 from the 134th FS participates in an Operational Readiness Inspection at the Vermont ANGB, Burlington IAP on April 29th, 2009.
The Vermont Air National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing and Luke Air Force Base's 62d Fighter Squadron are both slated to deploy to the base in June.
The 158th Fighter Wing is scheduled to deploy from June through July as a result of major runway construction at Burlington International Airport.
Officials said the 158 FW will continue their normal training operations at Langley, but will also provide Langley fighter squadrons with adversary support during the deployment.
The 62d Fighter Squadron is deploying for the first half of June solely to provide Langley fighter squadrons with adversary support during training.
Base officials say communities surrounding Langley should anticipate increased aircraft noise over the next two months.
