Pratt & Whitney awarded $52 million contract by Air Force

November 4, 2004 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Pratt & Whitney's San Antonio facility has been awarded a contract valued at $52 million to remanufacture engine combustion chambers for the F-15 and F-16 aircraft

The contract involves work on F100-PW-100/200/220 and 220E engine combustion chambers and will be performed at the Pratt & Whitney San Antonio Engine Center at KellyUSA.

Pratt & Whitney currently employs about 200 people at KellyUSA, where the company provides overhaul and repair support to the U.S. Air Force's fleet of F100-PW-229 engines, which power the F-15E and F-16C/D fighters.

The Pratt & Whitney Military Aftermarket Services group provides complete maintenance, repair and overhaul services for military customers throughout the world. It is a subsidiary of East Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies.

The work on the new contract is scheduled to be completed by October 2008.
