Portuguese F-16 overshoots Florennes runway

December 6, 2008 (by Asif Shamim) - During the Tactical Leadership Program at Florennes AB yesterday a PoAF F-16 slid off the runway. The pilot safely ejected and walked away without injuries.

The jet itself (#15133), Portugals first F-16AM, got stuck in the mud and suffered only minor damage according to Lt. Col. Peter Lepez.

Research will need to point out the cause of the mishap.

The Tactical Leadership Program (TLP) is an organization formed under a Memorandum of Understanding between 8 NATO nations. The objective of the TLP is to increase the effectiveness of allied tactical air forces through the development of leadership skills, tactical flying capabilities, mission planning and tasking capabilities, and conceptual and doctrinal initiatives.
