Kunsan Air Base officials are expecting about 20 F-16s to arrive this week as part of an aircraft swap with Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, according to a press release.

Lt. Col. Shane Riza is greeted by Lt. Col. Thomas Klopotek at Kunsan AB on October 2nd, 2007 after flying a new block 40 F-16 to Kunsan from Eielson AFB.
Under the Common Configuration Implementation Program (
CCIP), Kunsan is receiving upgraded
block 40 F-16s that will "increase our combat capability and readiness," according to the release.
In return, Kunsan will send its older
block 30 F-16s to Alaska, where they will be used to portray "aggressor aircraft" for combat training.
"This aircraft swapout brings Kunsan’s fleet up to date with the latest F-16 upgrades and allows Eielson to quickly transition to their new aggressor mission," according to the release.
The planes are to arrive between Wednesday and Friday.
