Greek F-16s intercept Turkish F-16s over the Aegean Sea

January 11, 2007 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Turkish F-16s were intercepted five times by Greek military jets on January 8th while flying in international airspace over the Aegean Sea, according to the Anatolian Times.
Two Turkish Air Force F-16s, that took off from Bandirma Airport for a training mission, were allegedly intercepted by two Greek F-16s (which took off from Larissa Airport) and two F-4 Phantom jets (which took off from Skiros Airport) in international airspace over the Aegean Sea at 12.12h and 14.20h.

On the same day, two TUAF F-16s that took off from Balikesir Airport for a planned training flight, were intercepted by two Greek F-16s (which took off from N. Ankhialos Airport) in international airspace over the Aegean Sea at 15.28h; and 2 Turkish F-16s were intercepted by 2 Greek F-16s (which took off from Limnos island) in international airspace over the Aegean Sea at 15.16h and by 2 Greek F-16s (which took off from Lesbos island) in international airspace over the Aegean Sea at 15.22h.
