Block 40 aircraft reaches 6,000 hours

June 23, 2006 (by Jon Sommerville) - A block 40 F-16 with serial number 87-0359 surpassed 6,000 flying hours on 20 June 2006.

It is assigned to the 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (AMXS) - 555 Aircraft Maintenance Unit (AMU) - 555 Fighter Squadron from Aviano AB, Italy.

The Crew Chiefs on the jet are SSgt John Janese, SrA Daniel West, and SrA Joe Khodabakhshian.

This is a major mile stone for the block 40 community. The fact that aircraft in the 31st FW have seen so much action in combat helps boost airframe hours.

This is the first F-16 block 40 that we know of that has reached this marker and is most likely the only one at this time. Please let us know if there are any others within the 40/42 block range.
