The US Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $7.5 million contract (time and materials) to provide for modification of 18 Dutch F-16 aircraft to Chile MLU configurations.
This work involves the removal of Strike and HARM capability by direction of SAF/IA in order to comply with Chile foreign disclosure limitations.
The work will be completed by November 2006.
The Netherlands defence ministry says the fighter sale is "still under negotiation" though.
