An F-16C Fighting Falcon was damaged last Sunday when it rolled off a runway after landing at Balad Air Base in central Iraq, according to an Air Force report.
Four-ship F-16C formation from Homestead ARB, including the 482nd FW Wing Commander's aircraft and the 93rd FS Commanding Officer's aircraft, all armed with 2xAIM-120 Amraams on the wingtips and 2xAIM-9 Sidewinders
The pilot, who wasn't identified as of Wednesday, escaped without injury.
The jet (
#86-0264), deployed from the 482nd Fighter Wing, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla., touched down at Balad around 1:45 p.m. After landing, the Falcon rolled off the runway. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Damage to the F-16C could exceed $1 million, the report said.
