Edje did with my brother Erik his fighter pilot training on sheppard airforce base. They where good friends. My brother crashed on 16.06.1987 in Holland.

They both where good pilots.

Hope they joined again.

I've known Ed since the age of 13. I quite often think of him. We had a lot of fun together, throughout the late '70's and '80's! Young rogues... I still have his voice on tape, and hearing that, no-one shall be surprised that his nickname was to be 'klep'. Did he ever stop talking? But he was always good company. A true friend.

In addition to the message above, I remember Ed and Eric being roommates. I remember Ed telling me his friend crashed. What happened and how... That hurt him a lot.

Strange that they would share the same fate. Indeed I hope they will never cease to sail the skies together.

Ed and I were classmates at the Coornhert Lyceum in Haarlem. After this school I went to the Royal Military Academy to join the Army. I found out years later that Ed had been a F-16 pilot and had crashed...it's schocking to lose people that young and that you know so well.

RIP Ed

Berging 'Klep'
Hans van den Bergh, Jun 05, 2013 - 06:53 PM

Beste mevrouw Kitslaar,

25-years ...........

Ed is my big cousin .....

I miss him en think about him everytime I see or hear a militairy plain. Today I visit the new Militair Museum in Soesterberg and I did feel him nearby.
