A few times I had the pleasure to be his crewchief.

I will always remember Lt (at that time) "moist" as a nice and friendly guy. As I know he was also a great pilot.

A great loss for our squadron 323 at Leeuwarden.

Moist, Fly for ever, RIP.

A young instructor dead
Roberto Schuurman, Nov 07, 2013 - 08:52 PM

I remember him as a young F-16 instructor teaching me to fly this dammed beautiful airplane. He had so much fun in his life with "The Blues Brothers" and music over the intercom system within the F-16!

Unfortunately he hid a colleague in the air and did not survive. I will always remember him as a good instructor with a heart for his job.

never forgotten

At least Leo followed his dream!

Almost 24 years ago we lost him, but i'll never forget him.

Heart is broken....

On a whim I started looking for Leo, who I taught to fly in the T-37. Today my heart is broken...I am POSITIVE he was a GREAT instructor and great fighter pilot.

Why did they went as high as 17,000 ft?
Hans, Jul 23, 2022 - 07:10 PM

That day 'Moist' and 'Snake' climbed up to 17,000.ft and at this altitude the fatal mid-air colossian took place. Up to this day I still wonder what brought them to this decision to climb up to this altitude, while that morning there was a maximum altitude limit being briefed of 6,000 ft. due to a postponed cabin pressure check of these 2 aircrafts? That limited altitude was the exceptional condition under which these aircrafts where released from their "red cross' situstion. I was dieectly involved in putting these two particular aircrafts under the "red cross' restriction...

Moist... I will always remember his grin

One of those officers who were never demeaning to enlisted personell, who was not above having bit of a wrestle with an enlisted over the maps table in the squadron bunker, always smiling, always in great mood, yet a serious pilot. Thank you Moist, you enriched my military service.
