One of the Best

Eric was the best ACM F-4E IP I ever flew against. A great pilot, husband, father, and American.

A great friend
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Harry Crook, May 03, 2013 - 07:26 PM

Eric Olver (not "Oliver") and I graduated from OTS together in November, 1969, and then graduated from Navigator School in August, 1970. We crossed paths often during our careers, lastly at Maxwell AFB in Air Command and Staff College. We both flew as WSOs in F-4s, with Eric going to Pilot school after his tour as WSO in the early 70s. Eric was a great friend that will always be remembered!

My Father
CPT Brian Olver, Jul 22, 2014 - 06:33 AM

He died when I was 9 and now that I am getting close to retiring from the military myself, I realize I don't know much about him at work. Anyone who knew him then, please post and share. Thanks,

CPT Brian Olver

Bad Night

I was assigned to the crash investigation board as a maintenance advisor. I did not know Col Olver but through the investigation so many people spoke highly of him. I was one of the first on the crash seen arriving even before emergency vehicles. This was one of two crashes within a month apart at Shaw.

A great guy and fighter pilot
Bill McDonald Colonel USAF retired, Nov 15, 2020 - 12:39 AM

Eric was a great fighter pilot and good friend at Shaw AFB,SC. I was proud to know him and his bride. His loss was a shocking moment for the entire 363rd wing. He is still missed. See from the posts that his son is on this string and I offer my condolences for your loss. Check six.
