During my incentive flight, Capt. Johnson was our wingman. He was one of the pilots that was well liked by the crew dawgs. He will be missed.

10 years already?

Hard to believe it has been 10 years already. God speed.

Fly Free Luke

Luke became my best friend while in the F-16 FTU at Luke AFB. He's the most humble, honorable, and decent human being I've ever known. I've missed him terribly. In his honor, my wife and I named our son Luke. God Bless Angie and his family. He's flying free now.

I saw a diarama about Luke at the Diekirch Museum and I took a picture.

It 'll be my pleasure to forward it to you.

Dear Mr. Hermans,

I hope this finds you well. I'd absolutely love to have that picture for myself and our son, Luke, named in his honor. You can e-mail it to: ficekh at yahoo.com.

Thank you very much and I appreciate your offer.

Warmest Regards,

In the Year of the Hawks 2023

Legendary weekend with the 23d Fighter Squadron. Much rejoicing, revelry, stories at least 23% true, several enjoyable beverages consumed with good food and better friends, music sung by choirboys. And most importantly, to honor Stiff…with stories, laughs and some tears, and some closure on things that have been there for now 21 years to the day today. Most wonderful to share the weekend with Luke’s wife Angie (now remarried with a wonderful family) and his Mom Connie.

The 23d Fighter Squadron is a class act and we were honored to spend a weekend among friends to celebrate Stiff…Hawks Rule!
