F-117s had small faceted 'boxes' attached to the sides of the fuselage to increase radar signature. Again, a quick review of photos will show these devices.

The passive device is called a "corner reflector" or Luneberg Lense. To be safe in civilian air traffic areas the F-117 would need more than two corner refelctors. To be safe a transponder would be needed to detect the F-117 from angles.

Habu, thanks for the photograph.

No F-16's have used any 'bolt on' devices to enhance RADAR signature. Going to challenge me? Show me just one picture of it.

Reading this post and others on another thread, you seem really on edge today. Are you okay?

It has been widely reported that the doohickeys agressor F-16s carry on chin stations, which look like Pave Penny pods, do just that: increase the Viper's radar signature to simulate larger aircraft like the Mig-29 and Su-27. Such reports may be wrong and you can dispute them, but that is what has been reported. There is no need to chew people out who may in fact believe those reports, especially when such has been reported several times through several different sources. So, just take it easy. No one is out to "challenge" you. This is not a competition. It's a forum to exchange information and perhaps learn a few things and share some others. Just be cool...

I didn't chew anyone out! You relax. Other than the specialized sensors installed on F-16N's or IFF antenna's I would like to see a pic of a bolt on device for that. My challenge was to others to post a pic of it for discussion if they thought otherwise.

No, you relax! Just kidding...

If you look at the following photographs, you will see what looks like a small "bump" on the side of the Viper's intake:

One of Top Gun's 8 F-16N (#163269) Aggressors, the only aircraft to wear Marines titles, representing that service's participation in the adversary program.

Various published reports have stated that it is used to increase the Viper's radar signature.

Here is another photo showing the same, this time on a USAF 57FW 64AS (414CTS) Viper;

USAF F-16C block 32 #87307, Nellis' 57th Operations Group flagship, in sand-color agressor livery. Note the Soviet-style large serial on the intake.

While you may be correct, I have always read and heard that these small pods increase the Viper's RCS. Moreover, those receivers are located on the wing's leading edge. Why would Agressor aircraft carry one more receiver? It doesn't make sense. However, it makes sense to alter the Viper's RCS to simulate other aircraft. Now, don't freak out, but I am 99% sure that you are wrong.

Idesof, it seems like you're looking for a fight. You won't get one.

As far as the F-16N and the Block 25(?) Agressors go...the F-16N had an upgraded wing and did not have the RWR's on the leading edge. They had the ALR-69's bolted on the sides. I believe the Block 25 agressor's have both RWR systems (someone that knows can chime in on that). ANYTHING added to the outside of an aircraft would increase it's RCS, however, these are RWR's and were added solely for that purpose.

Idesof, I'm 100% sure you could verify my information by calling Lockheed Martin.

You may or may not be right but, that's not the point now. Who the hell is looking for a fight? Certainly not me. Why must a discussion turn into a fight? Your attitude would suggest you are the one who is agressive here. Back off.

I'm sorry, but when you post "I'm 99% sure your wrong", thats really pushing it. The fact stands in my above post. If your "sure I'm wrong", call Lockheed Martin for the answer.
