I'm not part of any of those forums anymore. I'm also somewhat still a part of the yahoo groups. But their technology and format is loooong overdue for overhaul. If they went to php, like these boards, it would be so much better. Glad to know I'm not missing anything.

I gave up on RAM and other similar news groups when we had the Bosnia conflict. There was too much crap with people arguing on both sides, and not enough real info.

Some great people on that list, but lots of... er... other people too.

For all the young sprogs out there who didn't enjoy the oppo to drive 'muscle cars' back in the '60's.

Imagine a '68 GTO that could get to 60 mph in about 4 or 5 seconds while still in second gear.

I once pushed the peddle when some yeahoo ran a red light and I was in his crosshairs. Never shifted from first gear and was at 55 mph in about 3 seconds. Was in a '69 Cougar, 351 cu inches, four barrel carb (Holley) - that sucker was downright dangerous if you drank too much at happy hour.

I remember a rule that we should use mil power when the AB takeoff distance was less than 2000 feet ( 50,000 pound jet).

I remember getting to 30,000 feet in about two minutes from a standing start on some cold nights in North Dakota. Those were the days my friends.......

The climb rate of some of those dinosaurs is still competitive. Ask JR.

here's Gums with Steve. Airshow a few years back at Eglin.

we flew togehter at 'pilot indoctrination' training in '63. reese AFB. A few others from our class pic then has others who went on to some degree of success. Some wound up splattered in the jungle in late 60's.

Our class at the Zoo had the first ace (pilot) and most POW's. Timing is everything.

Hey guys, what kind of cameras did the reece version of the F-104 use? Any known user feedback from the recce users? Seems like goin fast like that it could do some great picture taking .

From what I could find the Canadian Recce 104 used a “Vicom photo-reconnaissance pod” and the RF-104G used three KS-67A cameras mounted in the forward fuselage, although the aircraft for Holland's Koninklijke Luchtmacht had their cameras carried in an external ventral camera pack like the CF model.

I’ve attached pics of our CF-104 single seater carrying the pod back in her active service, recce, days…
