Someone else here who appreciates it Habu. Love the BONE! Glad to hear they are thinking of pulling more of them out of AMARC (aka, the place where more BUFFs need to be sent.) Not only can it carry more bombs than the BUFF, it can also carry a wider variety of ordinance, can fly higher, faster, and put less crewmembers' lives at stake in the process. Plus...it makes for some really awesome demo flights! |

Seems like this thread has gone dormant for a while, but I just want to add my 2 cents. I haven't seen the T-Birds for a few years, but I've only missed one BA season - they cancelled Miramar in 01. Can't say I blame 'em! I've always loved the Blues, and they always put on one hell of a show here at Miramar. I love watching everyone flip out with the sneak passes! The humidity is usually high enough that you get some great shock cones (is that the right term?) on the high speed passes. I love good, loud airshows - I grew up on Crusaders and Phantoms and Tomcats. I think the best demos I've seen were (in no particular order) the Tomcat, the Viper, and the Bone. I remember one Bone transonic pass which featured a shock cone around the entire aircraft! I'd seen it many times before on Hornets and Tomcats, but what a sight around something that big going that fast!
Like I said, Miramar's always been my homebase (I grew up in Poway, right under the flight path), but I'm moving to Vegas, so I guess I'll be seeing more of the T-Birds and more fighters out of Nellis! Anyone know if you can watch the T-Birds practice in the off season? Where would someone go to see that? Thanx in advance! |

They usually rehearse up at Indian Springs AAF but, having never been there, I'm not sure if the base has public access. Probably not but I could be wrong. It's pretty outta the way and it let's 'em really push the envelope without the danger of harming the civvies if they have to bail for an IFE. |

That makes sense. After looking up a map, Indian Springs sure does look out of the way! I think I'll have to email the squadron PAO and see what the team has to say. I know that the Blues have a few practices a week @ Pensacola when they're not @ El Centro and they have a place for the public to watch them from the Naval Aviation Museum. I thought the T-Birds might have the same sort of arrangement. Thanks for the input, LinkF-16SimDude! |

God I love the Tbirds and Blues. Both are amazing in their own way! I hate arguing about who's better because normally I'm arguing with some blue angel noob that knows nothing about aviation and just thinks blue angels are better because they've never heard of the Thunderbirds.
-If you like faster flying, more variation, 8 diff formations, timed music to maneuvers and very very cool maneuvers, you'll like the Tbirds better.
-if you like slow graceful maneuvers, and 6 minute long country songs you'll perfer the Blues.
Still love em both! |

| Let's just hope both teams will have the cash to fly in the future; this years budget fiasco is going to get bigger! |

| Didn't they paint one F-15 with a T-bird scheme for an anniversary or something? I saw it in a kit picture, didn't really take a close look. I'm not a fan of huge single seat aircraft. |
