I know this is old, but I never knew guys could fly with contacts. I knew about glasses though. Does that mean u dont need the surgery as long as your vision qualifies you to 20/20 (with the use of contacts)? Or is that for pilots who already are flying, and there vision has grown worse over their carrer?

My info may be dated, but it used to be that no 20/20 uncorrected, then no pilot slot. period. End of story. Eyes only get worse, never better, and given the applicant pool they had to draw from, why risk it.

But, if you already had your wings and your eyes got bad, then you could continue to fly so long as they were correctable to 20/20. After all, they had already invested quite a bit in your training, why throw it away now...

If you want pilot slot stats, check out www.wantscheck.com They got all the gouge you can handle on pilot slots and rqrmnts
