Position light on tail (rear, right above nozzle): "Missile light", "bullseye".
Vertical tail LE IFR light: "bullet", "bullet light", "pencil light". |

Aft/Tail formation light -- "stinger" light or "a**hole" light
I've heard it called a "missile light" too... |

Trim switch is the "China Hat" - but that's not Viper specific. Wasn't there some stuff we used once that was called "Gorilla Snot"?
Also "F-4 tape" (silicone bonding tape). Sorry - I've digressed into old guy talk not related to Vipers. |

I thought the "camel c*m" was what they called the gun lube. I know it makes for a really good joke for a newbies ear defenders, especially if aircraft is in Air-to-Ground config. |

Thanks to all who have contributed thus far... let's keep the terms coming.
Thanks to the moderator(s) who have kept the posts cleaned up.
Are there any slang names for the following:- static dischargers
- Flaperons
- LEFs
- Wingtip missile rails
- External fuel tanks
- Any formation and navigation lights
- AOA probes
- Pitot and air data probes
- Radome
- Radar dish
- Tailhook
- Any antennas
- Fuel caps
- Hardpoints
- LANTIRN pods
- Weapons
- Vulcan cannon
And how about slang for things done by people to the plane either in flight or on the ground -- good and bad. |

Lower IFF Antennas under nose ="Viper Fangs"
Also hear 'em called "buck teeth".
Exteral wing tanks are just "370's" and External centerline tank is just "The centerline".
Pointy heads call the throttle the "T-grip".
Had one specialist expediter that called his electricians "electricutioners".
One common term for installation (i.e JFS, engine) is "stuffing". We have to "stuff" that motor tonight.... I "stuffed" that JFS 6 times before we fixed the no start. |
