The RF-8 flying scenes in 13 Days may have been CGI, but the roll out scenes were Philippean AF jets sprayed in Navy markings. The F-5s they show being loaded up were Philippean AF too. I really liked that movie for some reason.

Habu, you *know* if they ever made a movie with an XB-70 it would have to crash just so they could use the midair footage... |

| Ok, just got it. The patch that the Viper pilots are wearing in Blue Thunder is from the 6512th Test Squadron at Edwards. It's now known as the 445th TS. Anyway, The 6512th was a Systems Command unit back then, definitely not an ADTAC air defense unit. Around 1983, when the film was released, they were evaluating the ill-fated F-20 Tigershark. I have no info on the unit ever flying the F-16. |

Anybody else ever seen the movie "By Dawns Early Light"
Ive seen it 2 or 3 times, its a pretty good premise and a great movie if your a BUFF fan. Only thing is for some reason they are flying around in an up to date 80's B-52 and it still has a tail gunner????...... that and the scene with the F/A-18's flying off the USS Midway which was retired before the movie was even shot. |

I was wondering about a scene in one of the "Die Hard" movies (okay this is not a flight scene -but still). Bruce ends up in something with a ejection seat. What aircraft is it? And then he actually ejects (zero/zero seat of some sort). After he touches down again, he is in a VERY good shape (way better shape then the T-bird pilot was). Why would anybody leave an aircraft with an armed seat in a airport? Or is this normal in the US |

Not normal, just Hollywood antics, as usual. He ejected out of a C-123 Provider, and AFAIK, the C-123 has no ejection seat. btw... that exact C-123 is kept at Chino |

Not only that, but the 'ejection handle' he pulls is the seat height adjust motor. And, those grenades had the worlds longest fuses installed.
Remember the dual ejection seat sillieness from 'Terminal Velocity'? another nonsensical ejection scene.
On the same topic, if anyone tried to eject a seat from one aircraft to another like the James Bond scene would leave a much messier aircraft...
How about 'Space Cowboys'? Not many flying scenes, but the quick clip of the T-38 chase pilot whipping his head back as they 'put on the brakes' is priceless. I loved the mid-space between the shuttle and the mega-sat. Looked real cool on the big screen, not as impressive on the itty bitty one.
Back to the Right Stuff, I'm not sure that was a USAF bird. The seat in it was a Martin-Baker, and those weren't standard issue in the states as far as I know. I believe those were all for export.
