Here's another one:

Michael Clayton's NFL career took off like a jet in 2004, and that has afforded him some unique opportunities. One of them, fittingly, was literally taking off in a Thunderbird F-16 jet, an experience that left him nearly speechless on Friday afternoon 09 April 2005.

Did anyone catch Michael Clayton's (Rookie Wide Receiver for the Bucs) incentive ride with a Thunderbird pilot on the NFL Network yesterday? The pilot was very impressed with him. He even endured according to the pilot, 9.2 G's. He seemed to have the "hick" maneuver down pretty well.

Clemson football coach Tommy Bowden will fly an F-16 Orientation Flight with the 169th Fighter Wing on May 25th at the McEntire Air National Guard Station near Eastover.

His pilot is scheduled to be Captain Rick "Slammer" Noble, a Clemson graduate and veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Not sure if this is true or just air force lore, but I heard John Stockton made a pretty nasty comment to a group of maintainers at Hill either before or after his flight, something having to do with them losing the playoffs that year and us losing the Vietnam War. Any clarification on this would be great, as either I wasn't stationed there at the time or was gone that day for some reason. Very Happy

Dayna Roselli, Skywitness reporter with klas-tv, recently had the chance to fly in an F-16.

Stephen "Jester" Jost was Dayna's pilot. He has been an instructor at the Weapons School for two years. The flight lasted about 45 minutes. Jester took Dayna on a wild flight, they flew 9 G-forces, and broke the sound barrier.

Nick Lache from 98 Degrees got a ride in an F-16. Not sure which unit it was, but it was in the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lache Salute to Troops Special that aired a while ago.

I think Owen Wilson also got the chance to ride an F-16. Not sure though. I think it was some sort of orientation ride for the then upcoming movie, Behind Enemy Lines (2001).

Owen Wilson flew in an F/A-18 Super Hornet, as it was to be the jet featured in the movie. In Behind Enemy Lines, he portrayed an RIO for a US Navy F-18. The DVD features clips of his incentive ride which was at NAS Lemoore in California.

Greg White host of 'Two Wheeled Tuesdays' on SPEED TV with the 178th FW Springfield, OH. It was also on his show in July/August 2004. He got to fly an actual mission, not just an incentive flight. Lucky bastard.

Steve Irwin flew with the 63rd FS. I can't remember which jet, but I did meet him after he landed. He is an awesome person to talk to. I wish I could same the same about his wife. Also I recall Meadowlark from the Harlem Globetrotters got a ride with the 309th FS at Luke as well.

As a side note, Steve did a bit about the AIM-9, but didn't make it on the show. It was absolutely hilarious watching him do his thing.

On October 19, 2005, Nascar racer driver Carl Edwards will get a ride in an F-16 with the 169th Fighter Wing of the South Carolina Air National Guard. The flight will take place at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, just outside of Columbia, South Carolina.
