I see over 200 F18A models in AMARC I am hoping someone might know a few things about: 1) block 15s that were modified ADF--did they get the engine upgrade to 100-220s? 2) Did the -220s stay onboard into AMARC? Or did they keep the -220s at homestation and do one time flights with 200s installed? 3) Which chaff dispenser did the block 15 ADF carry---ALE 40? Did the dispensers stay hard mounted/wired onbaord into AMARC?

Thanks

ADF's had four different F100's as far as I know. 100's 200's, 220's and 220 E's. Some of the 220/220E variants went to F-15 units after the ADF birds got sent to the boneyard.

umm, no.

-100s were only on the two YF-16 prototypes.

-200s powered all Blocks 01/05/10/15

-220s were introduced on Block 15 OCU

all -200s were later upgraded to -220E

At the time the ADF mods were made it would be safe to assume all ADFs were powered by either -220 or -220E engines

Forgot to add, IIRC all ADFs were Block 15 (or 15 OCU) except for one Block 10. All airframes that went thru ADF were upgraded to Block 15 OCU specs if they weren't already built as Block 15 OCU.

The way I understood it, all jets that actually went through the ADF mod also went through the OCU mod, to inculde upgrading the motors to 220s. The E kit was made to upgrade 100s on F-15s and 200s on A/B models. I was wondering if anyone was around that knows if the 220s stayed with the jets into AMARC or if they were swapped out for low time remaining 200s.

Additionally, does anyone know if the ALE-40 was he standard for the 15 block?

thanks,

Brew

As delivered, ALE-40 was standard on USAF Blocks 10, 15, 25 and the F-16N Block 30s.

ALE-47 was standard on USAF Blocks 30/32/40/42/50/52.

Since delivery the CM systems have been upgraded numerous times.

When we got rid of our ADF's in 94 they still had 200's in them. The block 25's that replaced them also had 200's. Not long after we converted to the 220E in the block 25's is when I first started seeing 220's in the ADF. I really can't remember the timeline of the 220E conversion for us though.

Check with the Tucson Air Guard. Last time I was there they usually fly them till the date they get towed to DM. When I went there TDY they told me they install the old -200 back in them for storage.

Actually, the PW-100s were in the FSD aircraft as well.

Block 25s came production with -200s also.

And no, not all 200's were modified to 200E.

The ADFs were mix of fully moded, to partically moded airframes. No procurement for new -220s was ever made for the ADFs, or other USAF A/ B models, other than Test jets. The rebuilt 200s became the 220Es in those jets, not new 220s.
