USAF Weapons School. The "Fighter" portion of the name was dropped in the early nineties, when the bomber pilots and Air Control pukes got in on the action. As far as the Navy changing the designation of their Fighter Weapons School? I was not aware of any change. I had thought that Top Gun and "Strike U" were either combined at NAS Fallon, or were taught concurrently. The USAF, of course, also has Red Flag at Nellis AFB.

Ok, I just looked this up. NAS Fallon is home to the Naval Strike & Air Warfare Center (NSAWC). Apparently, "Strike U" and Top Gun were consolidated under the same command, but Top Gun is still its own course. It is no longer known as Navy Fighter Weapons School, rather the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor (SFTI) course. The syllabus at Fallon now very closely resembles that of USAF Weapons School. Hope this info helps you.
