Can some of the crew chiefs (or anybody else who knows) explain to this lowly ex-sim puke how the smoke generators on the T-bird Vipers are installed and interfaced to the appropriate cockpit switches? I know it's an oil-based smoke but where does the oil come from and how is it activated/deactivated? Is it a labor-intensive procedure?
Thanks! |

| What I have been told is that the gun ammo drum is replaced by an oil drum which is plumbed to the line alongside the exhaust nozzle that dumps it into the exhaust stream. I don't know about the cockpit switch interface. |

| If I remember correctly the smoke switch is in fact the dog fight switch. |
