I must say though, this is probably the furthest we've taken a thread that was actually removed from the site. There's gotta be an accomplishment in there somewhere, right? Rolling Eyes

I missed out on the original thread that started all this, but I am with Pointy Head! I always had a dream to get a degree and make something of myself, although my 1st assignment - TJ did not give alot of time. I was an A1C, workign long days, going to school to study Spanish because I wanted some play downtown. ha ha I even took language couses while deployed to Desert Shield and Storm (Forgotten 1000). I took several classes at TJ but stopped cold Turkey until years later while at Moody. I was a SSgt and one day, as with Pointy Head - the light came on and I said I have to do something.

I was on the line and then luckily was hired into QA. While at Moody, I went through a divorce - which drove to want to go to school even more (to forget). While at Moody I finished my degree in Spanish studies to allow me to teach, my CCAF, and a Bachelors with Valdosta State in Management, I also did most of the work for the ERAU Pro Aero degree. and did most of my work for my bachelors. Keep in mind tht through all this I was busting my a-- on the line!

I went to Korea and of course forgot all about school, but when I got to Aviano - I was a Crew chief, then expeditor, and flight chief (keep in mind what was going on - Bosnia, Kosovo - 12 hr shifts), but I worked my 12's, then went to class at night. I finished my Pro Aero degree and PCS'd to Langley.

While at Langley for 3 yrs and one day, at the HQ - took zero classes! What a dumb a--! I left there and went to Osan, and while there had little time for school, because anyoen who knows me - knows I was at work a lot of the time. I no longer really party - so it was work.

Since, I have been here at Ramstein - I finished my Masters with OU in 13 months and I do still work and do too much TDY time, but I have focused on my future follwoign the AF and hope it pays off. As a matter of fact - I just signed up for my 1st PhD course, just to see what it is like.

Anyway - as I said initially, it is not people working or blowing off work to go to school. All of my time has been on the line with exception of Langley and here at the Stein. It is a personal choice! I am the fist one in my family (mom, dad, and 3 siblings) then even finished HS. That may be my drive and if so, so be it! I have put my time in and you can ask anyone on this site that knows me - I have been and am a damn good crew cheif!

Well done Stu, well done....sounds kind of like the way I did it....extremely hard (mine took much longer though and you have gone further too) but at least I got it done - Congrads to you

Ribbons are hard to keep track of these days with this ops tempo. I can take a photo of someone today in the studio and the MPF will tell them the next day they have a new ribbon. Part 2 of that is we are supposed to notice screwed up ribbons before we take a photo. Part 3 of that is post cold war the photo career field ( which wasn't broken ) is now goofed due to multiple re-orgs. A-76 means the guy taking your photo depending on where you are stationed, might not have clue one about how the USAF is wired together. Laughing
