I am not an expert on this but doesnt an F-18 pilot fly a similar fight against the F-16? The F-18 doesnt have the power advantage fo the Rafale but is more agile than the F-16 so I would think the F-16 pilot would try to keep speed and energy up against the F-18 too.

"Rafale’s nose in his direction. That will force him to tighten his turn even more, and his speed will wash out very rapidly. On the contrary, the F-16 pilots will do what they can to keeptheir speed and energy up. "

In Octber, 2006, two Rafale M flew to Hungary to participate an exercise there. It is said that during the exercise, the two Rafale M played some air-to-air game with Hungarian JAS-39 C/D and MIG-29.

Does anyone here know the results or detail about these air-to-air game between Rafale M and JAS-39C/D ????

The F-18 isn't necessarily more agile, but it is better suited to slow speeds. Which is a disadvantage in a two-on-two dogfight. In general, the F-16 will try to maintain a speed and energy advantage over the F-18. It would probably do something similar against the Rafale, or better yet, shoot at it from BVR, or sneak up behind it and shove a 'winder up its tailpipe before the Rafale even knows the F-16 is there.
It takes a fighter with a gun to kill a MiG-21!
