Are you sure that is being transferred? It participated in the airshow as part of the 188FW. It looks like it just came back from depot/paint and the unit markings have yet to be applied. Note the new AIFF, as well.
I shot this 178FW is in the same position, having just returned from paint, also without markings.
Yes, the 132FW jet was shot at NAS Ft. Worth.

Hello Jon,
Thank You for Your serial update regarding the 178th FS. The caption of 86-0245 in "TX" markings should have been taken on Dec. 7.
Greetings,
Henrik. |

Jon, these jets were actually retired from service back in August, but weren't processed until recently. They spent several months on the snowbird ramp at D-M, with the engines removed. The 162FW scoured them for spare parts before they were finally in-processed at AMARC.

First want to give you all a big thumbs up for all the great work on this forum and keeping track of all the changes.
I want to add and correct the 389th FS serials which went to the 157th FS:
91-0393, 91-0401, 92-3884, 93-0545 and 93-0547 are the winning numbers.
When more info comes my way I will try to update you, but only after it has been published in our magazine....
Greetings,

Hi, Henrik! I´m not sure, is that new for you?
Quote:
First of 17 jets leaves 944th FW
by Staff Sgt. Stephen Razo, 944th Fighter Wing Public Affairs
8/15/2006 - LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The first of 17 F-16s from the 944th Fighter Wing departed Luke Aug. 15 for Hill Air Force Base, Utah, where it will undergo Falcon Star, a life-extending set of upgrades. From there, aircraft 86-0273 will make its home at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
The 944th FW flightline was lined with members of the reserve unit who came to witness a moment of history for the wing. Hearing her come to life on the flightline was no consolation as the maintenance crew who also knew they were not going to put her to bed that night because it was good-bye.
The event marks the beginning effects of the latest Base Realignment and Closure actions. In the following months, the 302nd Fighter Squadron will begin to scatter the remaining 16 of their Fighting Falcons to various locations, including the Tucson National Guard headquarters; Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; and Fresno Air National Guard in Fresno, Calif.
"It's a little sad taking the first jet off the ramp," said Maj. Scott Crogg, 302nd Fighter Squadron pilot. "Since the 1950s, the Air Force has been right sizing. We do what we can and look to the future."
The future for the 302nd Fighter Squadron is at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, where the unit's historic flag will reside as a reserve associate squadron. The 302nd FS will join two active-duty squadrons flying the Air Force's next generation aircraft, the F-22 Raptor.
A little nostalgia shadowed crew chief, Master Sgt. Rob Taylor, throughout the day. Sergeant Taylor said good-bye to an aircraft he accepted upon its arrival at Luke AFB in 1990 from the 64th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis AFB, Nev., and also became her first crew chief.
"Reality really starts to set in when you see the first jet leave," Sergeant Taylor said. "I said hello to this aircraft 16 years ago and now I have to say good-bye."

Hello J.J.,
GREAT, my friend!! I actually knew that 944th was about to lose their planes, but not much has been out about it regarding when, where the planes would go and such. Really great information.
Many thanks,
Henrik. |

Too funny JJ, Bjorn I think alerted us to this change back when it happened, well before this topic was started and I had forgot about it. It was already updated in the serial database. The serial again is 87-0273. I was just about to post that movement here as Jurgen had reminded me of it.
Although not solid yet, I have info of these movements for the 389th FS:
92-3896 to 57th FW on November 20, 2006
92-3898 to 57th FW on November 20, 2006
91-0386 to 57th FW on December 4, 2006
91-0413 to 57th FW on December 4, 2006
91-0392 to 57th FW on December 11, 2006
92-3908 to 57th FW on December 11, 2006
92-3881 YET to be moved to 57th FW on January 22, 2007
92-3888 YET to be moved to 57th FW on January 22, 2007
Remember, this isn't solid yet.
Also, the 389th FS should receive its first F-15E 90-0227 on December 22, 2006. |
