I have heard that there are some positions coming open in the Foreign Disclosure Officer field (USA types for all branches of the military) across the country.

Watch your job sites for these if interested.

The outline below was designed for the Ogden Center (the one I represent), other locations are the same, they may change slightly by degree only.

Here is a basic look at the responsibilities of an FDO if your interested in such work....good luck (if you apply).

Foreign Disclosure Officer:

Technically directs the actions to develop, interpret, implement policies and give procedural guidance as well as exercise staff surveillance in the Foreign Disclosure Policy Office.

Foreign Disclosure Management: Develops, implements the program directives, and provides logistic/technical guidance. Initiates investigations of suspected violations of the National Disclosure Policy.

Unauthorized Disclosure Review: Receives reviews, distributes, provides interpretation, and controls the Delegation of Disclosure Authority Letters (DDLs). Reviews all overseas Purchase Requests (PRs) initiated from the ALC.

Disclosure Incidents: Identifies and assists the Ogden ALC Investigating Officer in the review of unauthorized disclosure of data/items to foreign nationals.

Conducts a review of facts leading to incident and recommends corrective action. Visitor Control: Oversees and provides assistance to lower grade personnel in the control and access of foreign visitors to OO-ALC. Liaison/Exchange Offices:

Monitors the establishment and function of liaison offices. Prepares outlines and background data for training technical specialists in disclosure release policies and philosophies. Provides guidance and direction to lower grade employees.

Guidance and direction consist of general instructions concerning problem areas or projects assigned for accomplishment and review of completed work assignments for compliance with accepted or directed policies and concepts.

This position has a critical bearing upon USAF relations with foreign governments. Decisions made by the incumbent and actions taken upon the FDPOs advice could result in serious security or diplomatic compromise involving the Commander of the ALC, AFMC or USAF. Possess extensive background and knowledge of FM, Supply, Maintenance, Engineering, and Procurement functions.

Extensive technical knowledge of equipment and Technical Orders, particularly Electronic Warfare equipment which comprises the majority of classified equipment released to foreign countries.

Extensive knowledge of policies and procedures governing disclosure of classified information and release of equipment to foreign governments. Enforces Information Security Regulations and their applications regarding foreign disclosure policy and procedures, demonstrates a high degree of tact, diplomacy and initiative.

Takes a "year" to be DoD Certified and Trained, there are three (3) Major courses involved, all funded and paid for by the DoD if you get hired as a Civil Servant.

The other is a civilian type contracting firm, similar in nature but not exactly the same as the DoD - FDO (just so you know, you have to be DoD Trained and Certified to be a FDO) and have Release Authority.

Here is a civilian site (contractors that are also hiring, they work with the US military too but are Not Certified by the DoD as we are).

Good place to look too though and get your feet wet in this line of work.....
