It wasn't any of those tail numbers! It was 776 I know that Vert. Stab like the back of my hand. My prayers are with friends and family.

Go Hounds,

You are correct Csmitt. It was 776. It was also not shot down. At least from what I'm hearing from very reliable sources.

Any of what tail numbers? It was ID'd as 776 from the first viewing of the unedited video on Reuters.....it was painted right on there......I didn't realize there was any question as to that?

No it wasn't. It was identified due to squadron and wing markings.

Well, OK.... on the video I saw..... that was aired by Al-Jazeera and Reuters, it showed all the markings, including the tail #. Even if it was ID'd just by the markings, my point remains I didn't realize there was any question as to the tail # from almost immediately, which is why I asked.

Sorr, I don't subscribe to Al-Jazerra tv. Must have missed the clip you saw. It doesn't matter. God bless you major Gilbert.

Neither do I subscribe to Al-Jazeera, but the video that was linked here....where that screen shot came from, was on the Reuters website unedited.....I believe they got it from Al-Jazeera.

My guess is the guy was shot down.

If there were that many targets around his crash site so quickly then I think that is a fair guess.

I'm really concerned that we didn't rescue him, no matter how many targets were in the vicinity.

Seems to me Iraq is worse off than the news is suggesting. From what I remember we have MOABS and maybe daisy cutters, I never hear about those packages anymore in the news. Are we still using those?

Respectfully,
Money32

They were engaged in a CAS mission.....thats why he was on a strafing pass.

Seriously....the media is UNDERREPORTING the war?

MOABS and "Daisy Cutters" don't work terribly well in urban environments actually.

not sure if my last post went through.

Apparently AB Scott and I disagree. That's fine.

F18 down in San Diego today, pilot ejected safely.

Sorry, I just find it unlikely that CNN is painting a rosy picture of the war.

The fact that you advocate the "Mother Of All Bombs" as a solution frightens me just a little.

you guys dont understand, all the damn bombs in the world dont win counter-insurgencies. Taking out a whole town doesnt win a whole lot of herats and minds.
