What's the function of the 10 kVA standby generator in the F-16C/D ? Is it a kind of back-up for the 60 kVA main generator when the main generator doesn't generate enough power ? I'm looking for as much as possible info on the main ac power systems of the vipers.
Also, The Dutch F-16A/B MLU is equipped with a 40 kVA generator. Does anybody know if the F-16's of the other EPAF countries also are equipped with a 40 kVA generator and if not, what kind of generator do they use ?
I was told that the newest versions of the F-16 are equipped with 2 generators. Is this true and if so how much kVA do they generate ? |

| The purpose of the 10 kva generator is to be a standby in the event that the main generator fails, without this the EPU would fire as they commonly did with the older F-16's. I have no idea about the newest versions of the F-16 however. |

Same...
The standby gen is on the same driveshaft as the FLCS PMG. The main gen is on it's own. If you lose standby gen, no big deal at all. Might lose FLCS PMG as well, depending on what caused it. Had a few gen fails, nothing cosmic. |
