Awww man, you guys are really getting to me!

Always wanted to get a hop in one of those things when I was at 'Alex' and they were right down the flightline.

Nimrod. Look that up.

Anyway, the Air Commandos here have a few of the 26 drivers around. maybe I could get one to post on the board.

Otherwise, you can go to:

http://aircommando.net/

or

http://www.aircommandos.org/

Just ask them for more info after browsing all the pages.

HABU WARNING HABU WARNING

As you may have guessed, I am a life member of the Air Commando Assoc. we have a really neat reunion annually right here in Ft Walton Beach and all are welcome. Cheap, good time of year (Columbus Day weekend), and you can rub shoulders with some honest-to-God living legends (besides Gums).

later,

Sheesh, habu,

Columbus Day weekend!!!!

Have to look up exact date, but should be 9 Oct weekend +/-.

I have another reunion the week before, so may have to miss this one. Too bad, cause I live right here in the heart of the Air Commando envelope.

Stay in touch.

Gums sends

Also, Hurlburt has a great static display line, once one enters the main gate. Help me out here Gums. What do they have? A B-26K, an AC-119(?), an AC-130 (no Air Commando display is complete without one,) an A-1, I think an AC-47, a T-28(?) and I know I'm missing a couple/few. It's hard to think of static aircraft around that area, without also thinking of the USAF Armament Museum.

Here is a post from troung on the ACIG forum...

The B-26K was a modified B-26 to suit the COIN role the USAF was lacking in the early 1960s. The B-26K was used heavily in the Indochina wars operating in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam in the air to ground role.

Other info as near as Tom our writer/historian/author at acig can figure out is that the CIA never got the fancy K above for SEA ops like USAF, just old ones. The K was used in the Congo uprising and reported to be a good Simba hunter.

Here is some nice artwork of some of the Bay of Pigs birds.

Gums, That's a great bunch of folks. I loaned Kittinger my cranium cover to fly in the T-Bird once, what a great guy. "Tiny" and your group are some hellatious warriors!
