| Has anyone ever seen an F-16 loaded with the UK BL755 cluster bombs? In all my years I have never seen this loadout on a Viper. I did find on my Stores List card that the jet is cleared to carry the BL755 Mk 2 on STA 3/4/6/7, either singley on MAUs or in threes on TERs (CAT III). Is the BL755 even in the inventory any more? |

| Those are the bombs that come in the 1/72nd Hasegawa F-16 kit right? I was thinking about stealing them and putting them on my Canadian Hornet. . . |

Belgian Air Force no longer uses BL-755, so you won't see them again...

Fastmover76, that was exactly why I was asking. I'm working on web pages covering the F-16 in scale, and last night I was working on the Hasegawa 1:72 section. (sad, I know - home on a Friday night... ) Well somehow, after all these years, I had never bothered to try to identify those parts and, when I did, I was thinking 'that was an odd choice...' Then I started fact checking and found the BL755 in the Stores List for Blocks as late as 50/52! I was surprised, especially since I had never seen them hung on a Viper before. Thanks to Bjorn I guess I can't say that anymore...
Now I can start looking for a tiny photoetch piece for that fuse spinner... |

It is an odd ordenace choice for the kit, but I figured since you could make a Dutch F-16A that's why they included them. I haven't seen any other 1/72nd kits with BL755s. They're probably in the older Hasegawa Harrier kits, but I've never seen it, so I don't know.

When you're looking for a nice pic of a Belgian Viper with BL-755's, check this one:
http://users.pandora.be/ellebaut/31tige ... ux/(1).jpg
BL-755's can also be found in the Airfix High tech series on 1:72, with photo-etched parts.
The BL-755 is withdrawn from service in the Belgian Air Component due to high maintenance costs.
Next to the fact that these weapons were only effective on low level. This is no longer done at present tactical operations. It seems to be that not all submunitions went off either! This created the target area in a minefield.
Last year during the FWIT, an F-16 dropped a BL-755 in a Norwegian nature reserve... (<a href="http://www.f-16.net/f-16_news_article899.html">Bomb goes astray during NATO exercise</a>) |

| Cool, now I know what these bombs are called on my F-16. They gave me 2 of um and I don't even know how to attach them. I attached the HARM's instead. |
