Hy everyone!
I'm new here so let me first introduce myself. My names Brad Coble and I recently (four years ago) retired from the USAF. I was an avionics guy most of the time though I stumbled into the world of computers later.
When I was a youngin and at Kunsan in 1985 I helped the paint shop paint our jets for Gunsmoke. I have seen in the past a model of an F-16 with that paint job but I cant find it now. Has anyone seen it and would know where to get one?
Thanks!!
Brad Coble |

Ah yes, Gunsmoke 85. I was at the 1989 Gunsmoke (Misawa) and it was a great time.
There are two different ways of getting the G.S. "85" markings. The first is to troll trough EBAY and look for Hasegawa's F-16A kit that "came" with the special markings. It's the same basic F-16A kit (same box too, w/a G.S. 85 sticker on the box top), as Hasegawa just printed and added the G.S. "85" decals. It's kind of a rare issue, as I don't see it listed that often.
In the mid-90s Mircroscale made a sheet as well (48-299 I believe) and those were pretty good, but you have to look out for registration probelms, like with any Microscale sheets from the 80's to late 90's.
I still have both and actually built the model when I was stationed at the Kun in 94.
If you can't find the sheet, drop me a line, as I have a spare I might be willing to let go.

Hey,
Didn't the Kunsan team get burned for the Disney Wolf paint job on the Gunsmoke jets? As I recall, there was a problem with the paint job waiver and the judges deducted some points.

Hey Buffy, what's up? Thanks for the private message, will get back to you this week. It would be interesting if someone started a Gunsmoke thread.
Best Regards, |

You prabably want to stay away from teh Revell decals, they're not that great and the stenciling is off.

I have searched Ebay but no luck. But now i know what to look for so its just a matter of time.
O, and if you are interested, I ran accross a photo of one of the Kunsan birds sitting on Nellis ramp during Gunsmoke.
Thanks!! |

Glad I could help, culdraug. My post was not so much to recommend a particular decal, but to let others know what was available.
If the best option is unobtainable it might as well not exist, and a lesser option would be better than nothing. |
