Hi guys,
I'm a UK Army helicopter [Link pending approval]
(waiting for you to stop laughing )
and was wondering about a couple of things?
How come there isn't much mixing with you guys and us in the UK for those at Lakenheath? I go overhead or through all the time and see the jets but we never go for BBQs or have you guys over here!
I know this is an F-16 forum and it is F-15s and some other stuff but wondered if anyone knew anyone at Lakenheath.
I always wanted to fly a Falcon. Still do.

Hello Quickstop. Firstly welcome to the forum. I'm not laughing at you yet. Depends on what you fly of course [Apache, Lynx or Gazelle?]... No seriously welcome and continue to contribute.
I still miss those great shows at Mildenhall were were the common folk got to mix & mingle with our local US neighbours.
akruse21, Welcome to the UK. Must be very different to your time in Japan. Please feel free to comment on what you think so far. |

Quickstop...try contacting the 492, 493 and 494th Fighter Squadrons at RAF Lakenheath, I am betting they would love to do some "mixers" as you are suggesting too. Or contact the 48th Fighter Wing, Wing Commander or Host British Officer Liaison, I am sure he too can help make this happen.
It is a shame it does not happen more often, I have been to a few when we deployed to RAF Honnington (back in 1995 when our runways were shut down for repairs).
We (Fighter Squadron's) got together with the "Brits" often at the local Pubs and Bar-B-Ques we sponsored.
Retired, Senior Master Sergeant, Maintenance Superintendent (492 and 493rd Fighter Squadron's)
Later mate - I will be visiting the UK in Feb 2007..want to meet for a "Pint" somewhere in East Anglia? |
