My brother played a flight sim game on the computer at an ROTC tour. He described it as being able to take off from any base and he used the saitek throttle and control stick. He was in an f-16, but said that you could fly many different jets. Possibly a microsoft game. I have searched like crazy but cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Falcon 4.0 (with one of the later community mods most likely) or Falcon 4.0: Allied Force which is a commercial release based on portions of the community modifications done to the original Falcon 4.0. They both look quite similar, so I couldn't tell you which one you were looking at. Google is your friend though.

Yeah I asked about that to one of the ROTC guys and he said that was not it. He describe it as maybe being called Flight Simulators 2005 or 2006, the only one I could find was the 2004 version. Thanks for your response. My brother said he took off from Vegas at night and it was pretty realistic. I own falcon 4.0 and he said it was not as difficult.

@cannon27, it's Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. A newer version is coming the end of the year. |

Well, if you want to fly a true F-16 simulator for the PC, don't bother with MSFS. In Falcon 4 you can employ the jet in a fully simulated dynamic war campaign. And the flight model is better than anything you'll find in MSFS for the F-16. If you're in it more for the flying though, I would go with MSFS. If you want actual combat in an F-16, go with Falcon 4.

Yore absolutely right Raptor_One, i have MSFS2004 myself and it's very nice but it lacks the systems and all other military stuff. They focused them self on civil planes only.

So MSFS 2004 just has civil planes or the f-16s to. MSFS 2004 is what my brother is describing then RIGHT? (THAT IS THE FIRST STATEMENT IN THE FORUM)

Hard to say, there are a LOT of older flight sims out there. It could have been Lock On: Modern Air Combat, it could have been X-Plane, it could have been a whole host of games from a few years ago.
Were you able to fire missiles/drop bombs? If so it was NOT MSFS or X-Plane. |

Reading the website for MSFS 2004 does not show or say anything about miliitary aircraft. Can you use the saitex throttle and contol stick on MSFS 2004?

Yes you can. And there are hundreds of downloadable airplanes on the net for both MSFS and X-Plane that people have made. As I stated above, the ability to "shoot stuff" would eliminate both of those sims.
