I bet it will be added on future models....

Yeah - like anyone wants to talk about adding even one more penny to the price tag. |

Bet it's cheaper to put a hand crank in than to cut the canopy when it gets stuck |

That comment makes no sense. Guess we'll see how it likes the weather up there...the next one off the line has AK on the tail.

What a stupid, stupid report....not that I'm surprised at all. God I hate the media.....and that IDIOT representative, whatever her name is "....it makes me wonder what else is wrong with them".....GAAAAAH! Apparently anybody can be in congress 'cause they let that friggin' moron in. It's a machine sweetie, and even hideously expensive machines break sometimes.
Sometimes I swear I wish for an invasion to put us out of our misery. If only stupid were panful....... |

Oh ya, fair and balanced. "and could be indicative of bigger problems" with nothing to back it up. Hopeless. I'm shocked they didn't have an interview with the pilot: "Tell me, being stuck in that airplane, how did that make you feel? Blech. What ever happened to 'who, what, when, where, why, how'? Now it seems like 'razzle, dazzle, touchy, feely': pick two.
I did find "Spam" amusing though. |

Are we watching the same TV report....the one from the link? I'm not sure how doing a hit piece on how expensive the aircraft is, and that it probably has other problems we don't know about....because the frapping canopy got stuck, counts as "decent". I'm not even sure exactly how this is newsworthy on a TV station anyway, except for the fact that they got the chance to wail on the military over its expensive toys not working perfectly. That's all it was about really....just the dadgummed money. Had it happened to an F-15 from Langley....you think it makes the news? Its just sensationalist garbage spewed by pretty half-wits.
I agree though....Spam is some funny shi'ite! |

**Well the Air Force got to set the record straight as far as the cost of the repair...everyone was citing figures about $100,000 to high.**
Had it happened to an F-15 from Langley....you think it makes the news?
**Of course! That is a local channel and yes that would have made the news. Your probably not from a military area where almost anything that happens makes the news.**

Ok, whatever. You've been all wound up about that HUD pic floating arond being used by the anti-raptor people to make hay, but you feel the need to defend a totally biased piece on the frickin' TV basically questioning the entire program's competency....over a mechanical failure in a new aircraft? You are telling me every time a raptor has a mechanical issue, it makes the news in Langley?
If you really want to stand up for the TV news as a "decent" source....especially with that piece, because they let the spokesperson slip the actual cost of repairs in.....feel free. |

| Man, I can't figure out your issue. "Wound" up about the HUD video?? My post there was clear and concise. You seem to be the only one wound up. I'm not defending anything but only saying that EVERY new aircraft has had issues. The plane costs just over $130M each, you think I'm happy that they're having issues with them?? No. As far as the "making the news" issue, your acting like a troll. Stop. None of my posts have been a personal attack on you. I simply meant that if it had been a 15 instead that, yes, it would have made the news here. You want to talk about sources? I don't, and never said anything other than I thought it was a decent report. I was there when it happened so I don't need to debate this further, I was only putting it out there. |

Well, ok....my "issue" again is with the news station....who produced an irrelevant fluff piece that was biased and misleading about the Air Force and it's new fighter than made it look bad and made the Air force look like it was wasting taxpayers money on a hugely expensive aircraft that can't even open its canopy. That's my issue. I'm not entirely sure how that differs from

I'm thrilled that none of your posts have been a personal attack, whew!
Yeah, I am "wound up" just a bit, but not at you. I'm wound up at the news station producing a narrow view report that only tells the small piece of the story that makes the military look bad, and again, if that makes me a troll then I just get to be a troll.....'cause nobody gets to rag on you guys unfairly around me without my saying something about it.....and I did send a tersely worded letter to the station general manager. |

| You would be shocked at how much stuff from Langley makes the news here in Hampton Roads. There are over 20 military installations here, and the local newspapers are reporting stories from each one daily. Hampton Roads has the largest military population in the USA, the local newspapers and tv stations know who their audiences are, and they cater to them. |

Good thinking, I just did too. Mine was more "remedial grade school" worded. "Do you realize if you treat your audience like they have the intelligence of 4th grade dropouts eventually that is what you'll have?" |
