Hey guys,
I have heard, on this site I think, that all ANG units get one UPT slot a year and if you belong to an ANG unit you are guaranteed an interview at that unit for pilot training.
Does anyone know if this is true, and if so...do these policies change from base to base or is it true for all guard units? Thanks in advance! |

It's a bit more complicated than that.
Basically yes each ANG unit gets one UPT slot a year. Sometimes they don't though.
I wouldn't be so sure about being guaranteed an interview at your unit either. |

| Hey man, I am in the same unit as WILZ (SCANG) and I am going to be applying for a slot this summer. As far as our unit goes, if you are part of the unit you ARE guaranteed an interview. We usually get one, sometimes two slots a year, just depends on what the demand is. I'm not sure if other units do the same, but that is how ours works. Good luck! |

Salute!
Just interviewed a yute that made personal contact courtesy of these forums and looking for an ANG or Reserve slot.
Any "clues" for the troop and others like you would be great.
Let's face it, we need some dedicated, motivated and talented folks. If you are on these forums, then at least one of those criteria have been met.
PLZ keep all informed as to the paperwork, quals, admin BS, etc on your trk.

| Hey man... swampfox is correct. Depending on various other complicated issues, it boils down to one slot(if your oucky, two)... and most units give folks enlisted within the unit an interview. Not to say that all are competitive, but all do "usually" get a shot. |

I must have contacted all the wrong units then. I called EVERY (and I do mean every) ANG fighter size unit, and a good host of C-130 units too, and they ALL told me they were either full, or were not looking for a while.
There are a few units that gave me board dates for summer 2006, but that was after when I would have needed the recomendation for (to beat the Force Shaping Board). I just hope I get selected one way or another before my Air Force career is over, or I reach the 5 year mark. |

| Its like that sometime bro. Just keep preparing and a door will open. That stuff changes all the time as funding does. One day they dont have a slot... the next day they do. |
