Honeywell, at http://www.honeywell.com/sites/aero/technology/industryfirsts.htm , has the following comment:

Quote:
First Production Integration of ECS/APU/ Thermal Management/ Electric Power into single system (JSF) - 2002

Might want to poke about their site for JSF info..

Ciao,

I have been in contact with some folks from Lockheed about this very subject and the answer I get is "we are still hammering out the details on system configuration"

There is NO EPU, there is an emergency hydraulic system but it is nothing like the EPU we all know and love so much.

You can uncross your fingers brutha, it's a fact from a test engineer on the JSF program here in F/W. You won't believe the fuel system.

Please don't tell me that. Not something I want to hear. I would much rather do a zine response. Especially if the fuel system is complicated

Relative to an F-16 it is, all three varients fuel systems are different.
You won't believe the boost pump capacity even without an FFP.
I can't give figures here but it's pretty impressive.

The F-35 uses high voltage electric motors with fuel powered hydraulics, where lesser aircraft would use actual hydraulic fluid and cables for backups. And don't forget that they've scrimped on the lightning and fire protection to save weight.

This aircraft is going to be a (literal) blast to fly. Wink

BTW: How come the non-American 5th gens don't get their own folders? Where do we post T-50 vs J-20 comparisons?

Because they're more like 4 and 9/10ths. TSFG
