Live and learn, LOL! I also didn't realize that the fin cap needs help to avoid the gap at the top of the rudder. Grrrrr! The rudder will have to be offset several degrees to have it took OK. I also didn't figure out the fit of the tail until after I painted it....another Grrrr.....but it will be OK...I'll just touch up the gunship after its on....nice that it has that gunship overspray. The skunk stripe about killed me. How do people do that in 1/72?

I'm back home now, and have a couple of weeks off, so I'll get some work done on it between chasing down the new 65th AGRS markings.

Heh, least now ya know. Wink Yeah I didn't even paint it until it was fully assembled and stuck on to the fuse. Didn't have any trouble, and I didn't have a skunk stripe to paint anyway. In 1/72, I use the same method, tac worms!

Hey!!! get your own thread!! LOL, just kidding Scott. Looks great. Your work is amazing and a fine addition to this thread. I have a feeling those 65th markings are going to sell once you guys get them out. The 524th looks great as well. My order's on the way.

Some side profiles. The bumps on the side of the intake just in front of the wheel wells were sanded down to give the right profile for the lightweight gear.

What's up with all the sanding though?

Adding the comm/bit ball door made a little gap on the bottom that required some work. On the MCID intake from Tamiya, the sides are bulged in front of the wheel wells to represent the HW MLG of the Block 50. These bulges need to be sanded off to give the correct profile of a Block 30 acft. With all this I decided to primer the whole thing and sand till I got a real nice smooth intake. The original panel lines we're rescribed to keep their depth.

OIC...thought maybe it was all leftover from painting the wells.

Gonna just glom on to Sean's thread here.

Did the same thing, and didn't go with the aftermarket wheelwell. Used a bunch of fine solder and stuff. Its not CLOSE to accurate, but it has what Shep Paine calls "creative gizmology" and certainly look busy...especially when the rest of it is assembled.

Pit is stock with Eduard color stuff. Seat is Black Box. I didn't do with BB this time. I punked out and couldn't bring myself to hack on a $170 kit that much!

Markings are custon for the 421st from Desert Storm

Nice work so far Scott!
Love the Old Skool Black Widows decal choice too!
