This coming from a person that really flies them! :p
Taco, is flying in formation incredibly easier with the freedom of peripheal vision and what not? Thats my biggest issue is once my lead turns, keeping track of where they are going is a pain in the rear without being able to follow them with my eyes!

| I don't know what the big deal is. I've been flying Falcon 4 for years & I've made numerous landings in clean conditions, inc. those in F4-AF, at speeds as low as as 120-125 Kts w/ 10-13 deg. AOA, w/ touch-down just beyond the "Piano Keys". |

Man, I wish I got to fly them!! Nope, just a regular ole crew chief. I've done a lot of civilian flying, and I'd say that yes it is easier to fly formation when you can actually have "eyes on". I imagine IFR in a real jet is pretty trying. |

I tried AR the other day, and it is REDICULOUSLY difficult compared to the real thing. I found that the easiest way to fly it was to hold the joystick at the base of the stick. It bascially has a similar effect to the FLCS automatically going to Takeoff and Landing Gains when the AR door is opened. It's a little more difficult to overcontrol it, and therfore helps you make smaller corrections (think basic physics and levers and such).

That makes me feel great- I'm getting proficient at AR on 4.0, so does that mean I could handle the real thing? |

| Way back I read a post by a pilot saying that the lack of depth perception and peripheral vision makes AR in a PC flight sim a lot harder than real life. Would you agree that's part of it Rexxxx, or do you think it's mostly the stick sensitivity? |

| I think it's a little bit of both. It just seems like the jets move around in the sim a lot more than they do in real life, and it's really easy to get into a PIO. |

RE: AR difficulty in the sim: The thing is, in real life ya got a guy/gal on the other end of the boom to plug ya once you're in position. Ya just stay where he/she wants ya and he does the rest. In the sim it's reversed (at least on the ones I used to work on). You ended up basically having to fly the jet onto the boom. The sim did have an auto-connect function but the capture "basket" was so unrealistic as to be unusable. Almost always caused a crash condition. Only once in 11 years did I witness a good capture that lasted long enough to transfer gas.

Ahhhh....I remember Volkel. Nothin' like the smell of the farmer's fertilzer tankers to wake one up on the long morning drive in from Eindhoven. I do miss it so.... Back to reality. Must have been the newer fiberglass MLU sim that replaced the meaty, beefy, MANLY A-model WST that yours truly worked on waaaaaay back in 1988. Man that was a fun trip! |

is there any difference in the manuals of old falcon 4.0 (1998) an falcon 4.0 AF....cuz i have falcon 4.0 since 1999. and it has a factory printed manual. after year 2000 the trend of bundling manual with software is gone. |

| I don't know when I picked my AF up but it did come with the thick manual. Best $10 I ever spent on a bargain bin game. |

@Angels225
I starting playing Falcon 4.0 AF as well. Used to play falcon 3.0 in early 90s. Is there any new theater/campaign which can be added to falcon 4.0 AF. any authentic site u know about.
