Hey guys,
I'm a new guy to the forum and a former Viper driver (184th FS Flying Razorbacks). I was wondering what the standard loadout was for the F-16C from the 17th TFS/363rd TFW "Owls" when they flew in DS. I'm getting ready to start building a 1/48 kit of 83-1159 with the Batman logo. Any help and or good photos of it would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Dave Wassell |

Cool. Welcome.
I'm looking for the same info too, but am not building a model. I am pretty confident about some A units but ( Block 25s ?? for that unit????) C model D.S. loadouts, I am pretty weak.
I am also yet to Read "Vipers in the Storm" which I was told was done by a C model driver. |

Here, give this site a try;
http://fly.to/dstorm
I can't get the exact address for you, but navigate your way to the "download useful stuff" link and then get the Desert Storm loadout excel doc. Hope that helps. |

We flew with a 2,000 pounder under each wing, a 300 gal C/L tank and 4 AIM 9's and HEI in the gun.
[Link pending approval] We were the "Hooters", not the white owls.
[Link pending approval] Met up with your Sq in Cold Lake CFB back in '89 (I think it was 89) during Maple Flag. We shared the ramp with you and some nasty old A-7's. |

A little background. The Batman symbol was done with grease pencil that we rubbed with our thumbs and was put on a number of jets. They all flew out of one of the fancy TabVees there at Al Dahfra (spelling escapes me it was a long time ago) the maintainers called the "Batcave" we even anwered the phone that way. The pictures where done by a young airman named John Jacoby(462). This was different guy from the ones done in the 33rd by Ron Tasker (E&E troop). He was not near as good as Ron and got some "help" from some of the other guys. Later in the war 4XCBU52 and a ECM pod on the centerline was also used, these a/c of course needed tanker support to make it there and back. The 363rd picked up some CAS work toward the end. |

| According to Rosey, it was 2 CBU-52's early per wing, then swapped to 87's and or Mav's one Mav per wing, he flew CG's though, as well as the AAQ-13, I wanna think Shaw was 25's at that time. |

Yo ho!
GASP! We now have a videogame geek "Ender" and a troop who thinks the SLUF was 'nasty'.
Well, UGLY, but not nasty, you yute!!!
welcome aboard, as we need a few more folks who actually flew or still fly the jet.
out,
P.S. more folks need to read "Ender's Game". |

If you speak about Orson Scott Card's book, you are right indeed. It is one of the best SF novels one can read .
Why did they swap to MAVs later? In order to avoid hitting friendly forces when operating close to the FLOT? |

| N, the flight lead would mark out targets at night for his wingmen, Rosey was a night flighter say the least, so thats how it went, lead with 2 Mav's, the other with CBU's or some kind of Conventional weapons. |

"Bat Cave, Homey the Clown speaking"....Dean Hawkins
Were you in "D" tab there? The Bat cavewas my "home" during the operation. Who are you? And have you ever heard anything from Trask in the past years?
