Hope you have a lot of grease and a BIG hammer... Shocked

If you've seen the F119 (test) engine at USAF Museum WPAFB, OH you would notice the larger inlet and maximum diameter. The F-16 airframe would requrie extensive mods to accept it. It also looks shorter but that would be easy to fix with a simple augmentor extension plug.

The F100-PW-232 incoporated many improvements from F119 development and was tested to 37K of thrust. It also could have been fitted with the pitch/yaw vectoring nozzle made for the F100 series engines.

But think about it.... Your trying to sell a new engine in the "35K thrust class" with only a pitch vector nozzle for installation into a NEW aircraft.

Does it make sence to sell an F100 super-sport for $7 Mill each, or a BRAN' SPANKIN' NEW engine for $10+ Mill each? Think of all the extra tooling and training you could sell along with the enignes!? Not to mention R&D!?

The US Congress would never go for the F-22 or the JSF if they could by "Super" F-15's and F-16's with next generation engines, weapons, and avionics at 1/5 the price...
Whistle
PS - The 3-D nozzle disappeared too...

Note: There are photos of the -232 and F100 Vector Nozzle in the F-16 Net Photo Section.

The F-119 was never intended to be used in the F-16. The F-119 is a F-22 and JSF application engine. Food for thought: The F-119-100 cost as much as a whole F-16 did, when it first rolled off the production line.
