Well,I can't vouch for Falconfixer860261 keeping his current assigned Viper clean since I retired but I know when we crewed '260 together we kept it pretty darn clean.

For real accuracy they should also have blobs of grease throughout the gear wells....haven't seen anyone do that yet!
Any self respecting crew chief would not let their plane get that dirty. I know mine is wiped after every flight. I do hate when someone else LUBES the gear, though. A lot of extra wiping for about five flights.
Did up until recently - but got made Expediter during AEF to Kadena and it seems that it might have become permanent.....There's a demotion for you! |

Billeting is nice if you get in the big buildings. Most of the smaller ones are being torn down and will probably be gone by then. Chow hall and BX/Commissary are a litlle bit of a walk from billeting but not too bad. Class Six stores are really too far to walk. Nice clubs and lots of off base tours. Nice military rec area on the beach and lots of nice scuba and snorkeling. Gold and silver are expensive compared to what you are used to in the alley at Incirlik. But freshwater pearls and jade are cheap. Phais House of Jade out gate 3 has good deals and is an easy walk from billeting. Gate 1 and 2 are too far to walk. Gate 3 also has the Banana Show which seemed to be a necessity for lots of people. Also China Petes is out Gate 3 and had good deals on ceramics.
Plan on dressing for tropical climate - hot, humid, rain. I don't think you'll hit typhoon season so hopefully you won't be constantly stuffing jets in PAS's. For the most part it's a nice trip but we did have some of the typical difficulties that happen when the Guard shows up at an active base. If you want to PM me with a phone number I can give you more detail on what problems we had and how to make life easier with the active folks. |
