In military aviation the biggest invention had to be the G-suit. Civilian aviation, radio and radar.

Depends on how deep and detailed you want to get into it... Then just about every little improvement would qualify... If we stick to the big leaps: Wright brothers, jet engine, radar, Razz stewardesses

Speaking of the mile high club, I wonder who were the first people to join.

Here's some for ya, FCS and engine reliability. This allows for everyone's favorite airplane. Dynamically unstable airplanes allows further advancement of aircraft and now the things are going to be all electronics. Heck, even the new Airbus's are FBW. Cool stuff though.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL WRONG!!!!!!

It has to be Friday night Happy Hour at the club with a cigar in one hand five fingers of your favorite in the other and a stripper in front of you.

But the Mile High club is a good tie-breaker if you can still have the cigar and booze.

Preach on Brother Snake! heh heh!

I say Mile High Club, WHILE drinking, and then you and she may need to share the smoke afterwards if everything went as planned. Laughing

Since WWII

Hmmmm, lets see....

The jet engine
Hydraulic assisted flight controls
The F-86F's tail design (eliminated control surface-moved whole tail)
Inertial navigation
Air to air missiles
The microprocessor
The delta wing
The G-suit
NVGs
The laser
Helmet mounted target/weapon cueing

Good topic
Cheers

I'd have to say the Energy-Maneuverability theory. Revolutionized the aircraft industry after all.

Honorable mentions: ACESII and inflight refueling. Without IFR, global reach is a dream.
