Are there any Flight Engineer types in here? Just looking for general info and what you think of the job, I am working on cross-training and FE (preferably on rotary wing) is the main one I'm shooting for.

Finally one for me. I was a "flight mech" on hueys in the late 70's before the AF converted them to flight engineers then I did a turn with the Army still hueys then I joined the Guard first as an A7D crewchief then back to flying as a flight mech on a C-131D and finally as a flight engineer on C-130A and B before winding up on F-16's in 92. I had a lot of fun on choppers with the rescue hoist and occasional m-60 at the range. The most work and most rewarding was on the Herk. Being a good engineer takes a lot of dedication and an understanding family especially now. You will be away from home more often than not. If I could do over I would go spec ops rescue or AC-130's. I don't know what the current feeder afsc's are now. Seems it was easier to be a loadmaster. Good luck KK

That is some good info, thanks! Feeder AFSC's are mostly maintenance, among them F-16 crew chiefs (i.e. me)- that is why I'm hoping to get a slot. I just need to get in tight with a Colonel so I have someone to get me into the FE class....
