I was working at Karup AB the 18th of June. I don’t know if any of you went to the show, but it was pretty good (for European standards). During the Saturday practise I was keeping an eye on the trainings, since I didn’t fly display. During a close formation turn (low altitude as well) a Harvard just tipped over, and crashed into the ground about 300 feet away from me. One of the most unpleasant sights I have ever seen… Pilot and passenger got killed on the spot. The plane didn’t explode, but running towards the crash site it was pretty obvious that they were dead.

Made me think about life a bit, and even more so about flying. I am pretty sure that I will leave the AF around the new year, and pursue a new career in the US!

I think about stuff like that all the time. I get myself into something and wonder (what the he|| was I thinking?) and then rethink my attitdues towards things I need to pay more attention to. I appreciate life and all it has to offer. I think that a person should enjoy themselves responsibly. Do things smartly, and enjoy yourself.

I know what you mean, Ill get carried away thinking into things, get all depressed, then move on. I was in a cessna gettin a flight to become familiar with controls and such and lately a few people have crashed and died in these things, we were flyin over water and I just imagined what would happen if we took a dip into the drink.

OK I'll stop now. Very Happy

Life kills. It is the only known side effect of breathing too long.

Alright guys… No need to start making people thinking too much about the downsides of life Smile

What I just wanted to point out was how damn fast all the glamour can change into death and misery. You make one little mistake, and a couple of seconds later you are trying on a new set of wings.

But this does not count for flying only… This is just the way things are, and sometimes it's worth stopping for a moment and enjoy the things we have right here and now.

Just a little stat to keep things in perspective:

Every year more people in the US seriously injure their eyes with their own hairbrushes than die in airplane crashes worldwide.

Must be a lot of blondes that use hairbrushes.....

You're not a pilot until you've come to grips concerning this issue. Besides, so what? It's oh so quick, the only better ways to go is enter the event horizon of a black hole, by the way there are four different types of event horizons, take your pick....
