I've heard a rumor recently that the current program of opening all the tactical jets up to TSgt 7 lvl's is going to be expanded to SSgt 7 lvl's as well, effective FY '06. Anyone else heard stuff on this, one way or the other?

I did the first of my 7 level last year and finish up the second soon. My bud who just got his 7 level CDC's and the first part is F-16, F-15, A-10, U-2 and UAV's!!! If need any help with A-10 stuff just drop me a line. Crewing them now with the Guard but still love the Viper though!!

Yeah I knew about the CDC's, but as it stands now they won't actually send you to a different airframe till you hit tsgt; I'm wondering if they're going to start sending ssgts to the different airframes too. Thanks for the info!

I'm of the impression that once your a 7-level (SSG or TSG) you are now ripe for any assignment.

That 7-level is also great on the outside when you are talking to the FAA about an A&P.

Actually you can get your A&P through the military now. All branches. And they pay for all of it except the orals and practicals. You can even take the written at the base ed office for free. I know about it because I am one of the program founders. The program is maintained through the CCAF at http://www.au.af.mil/au/ccaf/faa.htm

As far as I know, the program is still only for Tech 7-lvl's. Your AFSC does not change unitl you make Tech. Even though you have completed the CDC's and 7-lvl school as a Staff according to AFPC you are stilla 5-lvl. Your PAFSC will change to a 7-lvl but your DAFSC will stay as a 5-lvl. I haven't heard of any changes but it is always possible. I am at the Kun and tried to go to Langley which is closer to my daughter but was denied becasue of my DAFSC. So, instaed I palace chased to the Guard. If I hear anything I will let you all know.

In the Guard and I'm sure as with the Air Force, rickpump76 you are absolutely correct. Until Tech your DAFSC is a 5-level.

Do you know if you can do your oral/practical on the Korean pennisula? That is one of my "goals" at I have set for myself when I go to Kunsan; finish my CCAF degree and work on my A&P license.
