Hey guys im new here and I was wondering. Just how realistic is the flight sim Falcon 4? Are the avionics spot on? is the flight model accurate? Ive been playing Falcon 4 for about 3 years now and Id just like to know just how real it really is.

Ive flown both and I quit playing Falcon 4.0 because it just has too many irritating "SIMisms" that the designers made up because they didnt know what else to do. No, the avionics are not spot on, the flight model is hard to determine because you cant really "feel" the jet, and they still dont have the correct HOTAS system down. All of these are enough to make real Viper drivers just decide to watch TV at night and then go to work in the morning.

It's just a game, it's defenitly not like the "real thing" but it's more accurat then most simulators. There are many patches and add ons that are floating around for Falcon 4.0 to make it even more realestic. There are actually a few guys who actually fly the F-16 out there making patches and upgrades so if you could find them you'd be in luck.

You'll never find a military flight simulator of a current United States combatent aircraft to be very accurat for obvious reasons. You get the main idea of how things work with these games and it's more about having fun then anything else.

What actually makes some parts more difficult than the real thing is the fact that you do not fee the aircraft.

For desktop pilots it is a very good and accurate simulator and I fully agree with Chris, it is a game so above all, it should be fun! Smile

I also have a question, what about the new expansion pack for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 3 and Flight Simulator 2000? (see: News: F-16 Falcon expansion for Microsoft's Flight Sim)

Has anyone experience with that one? Is it as realistic as Falcon 4?

I don't quite understand your question. I haven't played Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 3 or Flight Simulator 2000, only Falcon 4.0. But I asked what you all think about MCFS3 and FS2000, so I know if it is worth buying in the future. So what is sp3?

S_elebaut have you flown Falcon 4 straight from the box?
If so, you don't know what you are missing, Falcon 4.0 has been updated by the community to make it better and more realistical.
Its like comparing a Fiat Punto to a new Ferrari, where te Ferrari would be the updated Falcon 4.0.

And this update is called SP3 (SuperPak 3) If you want to install it follow the beginning of the first post in this thread http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/show ... adid=25598 up untill point V. at least (that's the minimum you need). If you do everything correct you'll see that this Falcon SP3 is nothing compared to the Falcon from the box.

Now for your question concerning FS2002. The F-16's for FS2002 look nice, but thats it, if you want things to look nice get that, but you won't get the realism as in Falcon.

I hope this helped.
