Well...I volunteered for Korea and ended up getting Kunsan. I'm pretty excited and I'm looking forward to what it's gonna be like. I've tried to find out as much info about the base and the squadrons there but I'd also like to hear anything you guys have to add. Anything about the base facilities, squadrons, and things to do during off duty time I'd sure appreciate. Most of the guys that I work with say it was their favorite assignment and the friends they made there they still keep in touch with so I'm looking forward to it.

Hey SaulGood2021,
Congrats on the assignment, I know you were really looking forward to this. Judging from other members' accounts, you'll have a great time there!
Good luck, and be sure to let us know how it's going!

Its just like anything else, it will be as good (or bad) as you want to make it. The folks at Kunsan work hard and play hard.

Congrats on your assignment! You will like it compared to your last base (you did volunteer). It is very different. I am currently at Osan. There are just a few more things to do, but both places equal out to the same. The flightline facilities and HAS's are junk and probably like us, the tools aren't that great either. Fast paced environment and get ready to suck some rubber! I am tring to enjoy the fighter environment as where in November I am headed to Barksdale to work on the "BUFF". Good Luck!

I'm a former F4 Juvat. I need the email for anybody in the 35th. My son in law is over there now, and I want to give him a hard time.

If you want something to do, but a nice bike (I mean like invest $600+ in a high quality model; specialized, trek, gary fisher, etc) and you'll have some of the best mountain bike riding you'll come across anywhere. At least thats how it is here at osan, I've been here 11 months and found more new trails today. As long as you don't fall into the routine most do, of getting hammered every friday and saturday night (and weeknights for too many of them) You'll probably have a good time. At least, spending the weekend hungover isn't my idea of a good time, but to each their own. There is skiing in the winter, hiking and rafting in the summer, and you have a paintball course there at Kunsan too, I think. Plus all the cultural tours and stuff to do (which I haven't really gotten into, personally), weekend trips to seoul, things like that. Personally, I hate it here; but I don't go around telling people "never go to korea you'll hate it"; I just tell them I don't like it, and leave it at that. Its all up to you and what you're interested in.

Hi all! I'm new to the board and am heading to Kunsan also. Quick question: How busy are the E/E troops on an F-16? I've been a KC-135 guy for the vast majority of my career and was wondering how hard it is to keep the -16 flying. Thanks!
