Israel Aircraft Industries Commercial Aircraft Group Receives contract Vought Aircraft Industries for manufacturing assemblies on Boeing's Prestigious 787 Program
Mar 13, 2005
Multi-year contract valued at approximately $500 million

Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI)'s Commercial Aircraft Group has received a multi-year contact, valued at approximately $500 million from Vought Aircraft Industries to manufacture assemblies on the prestigious Boeing 787 Dream Liner passenger aircraft program. The award was sole-source and runs for the lifetime of the 787 program.

IAI/Commercial Aircraft Group's Production Division will manufacture assemblies for the door surrounds and passenger and cargo floor. The Group's Engineering Division will design the assemblies.

Mr. Moshe Keret, IAI's President & CEO, said: "We are honored to have been awarded this contract by Vought. This demonstrates IAI's credentials and we look forward to participating in the 787 program."

The Boeing 787 Dream Liner, expected to enter service in 2008, is a fuel-efficient airplane designed to serve routes between 3,500 and 8,500 nautical miles (6,500 and 15,700 Km). The B787's airframe will be made of lightweight and robust composite materials and advanced alloys using innovative manufacturing methods. The Dream Liner will provide passengers with a better flying experience, including an improved cabin environment with more room and more conveniences.

IAI's Commercial Aircraft Group designs and manufactures business jets, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), manufactures aeronautical parts and structural sub assemblies, and produces hydraulic systems and components. The Group's Production Division manufactures the G-100, G-150 and G-200 business jets, and work as sub-contractors to major aerospace industries worldwide.

Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. is one of the world's largest independent suppliers of aerostructures. Headquartered in Dallas, the company designs and manufactures major airframe structures such as wings, fuselage subassemblies, empennages, nacelles and other components for prime manufacturers of aircraft. Vought has annual sales of approximately $1.2 billion and more than 6,000 employees in seven U.S. locations.
