I'm not a computer guru but I was just wondering if there is any way to block the entire server that these loser spammers are using. Some of these other ideas listed are also good. Maybe it is getting to be time to have any future posters to do a verificaiton process to include a valid credit card. I'm just getting frustrated seeing this spam crap show up....

Is there a way to limit the number of threads someone starts for a given amount of time? Like you can only start 1 thread per day or something? Maybe that would slow them down a bit so one guy can't start 6-9 new threads at once.

That is already the case. We limit posts. We think thats reasonable.

What about doing a waiting period for any new members with a new post, say like 48 hours. That way it would give a chance for the webmasters to screen them before they even hit the forum. This would only be for new members only. Not sure how easy this would be to do but that was an idea from one of my friends at work.

While I agree that is reasonble when the forum isn't being invaded, the spammers are currently maxing out the allowable threads per day for each username they get. Might be prudent to limit posters to starting only 1 or 2 threads per day during this time of war. Just a thought!
